| Leather and Beadwork Medicine Bag - "Forest Spirit" This medicine bag is handmade from real deer skin. It has a gorgeous rich, earthy, brown coloring. It has a deerskin strap to wear around the neck, or to hang on a rear-view mirror, or any other place! The strap cinches in tight to close the bag or loosens to open. Strap is adorned with recycled glass beads in a variety of colors. I have hand beaded a mandala design around a beautiful bone face. She represents the Spirit of the Forest. The colors I chose to represent the Forest are Golden Yellow for the wildflowers, Emerald Green for the pine trees and grass, Turquoise for the Sky, and Rich Brown for the Earth. Each of the tassels have the four colors beaded on them as well. Pouch measures 2 and 7/8 inches long by 1 and 5/8 inches wide. Tassels measure 4 inches long, making a total length for the pouch 6 and 7/8 inches long. Neck straps measure 14 inches on each side, giving a wearable size of 28 inches total when tied. The Seashell represents the ocean and all the wonderful treasures found there, including the calm and peace that comes from the sea. The Juniper Berry beads, or ghost beads were generally given to someone leaving on a journey, they are said to bring good luck and protect from evil spirits. Lavender is a great healing herb, as well as having a very calming and lifting effect. Sage is used in cleansing rituals among the Native American culture, it is said to keep negative spirits and feelings away. It also has many healing properties.
